Anti-Slavery Statement
As a responsible employer and business, Homlex Ltd is committed to preventing slavery and human trafficking. This statement outlines our dedication to mitigating the risks of these crimes within our business and supply chain, ensuring compliance with the Modern Slavery Act 2015.
Our Business
Established in 2020 by Benjamin Vale, Homlex is a leading social housing provider in the Midlands, managing a large portfolio of residential and commercial properties to meet the needs of service users across the east midlands.
Our mission is to combat homelessness and support vulnerable individuals, helping them transform their lives and communities.
Robust Strategies, Policies, and Procedures
Homlex has implemented various strategies, policies, and procedures to detect and prevent slavery and human trafficking. These measures cover our workforce, supply chain, residents, and the broader communities we serve, including:
- Paying all Homlex employees at least the Real Living Wage;
- Encouraging employees to adhere to legal working hours;
- Requiring new employees to provide verified documents (e.g., passports) to confirm their legal right to work in the UK;
- Enforcing strategies and policies on equality, diversity, vulnerability, safeguarding, domestic abuse, and violence against women and girls, with specialist training for front-line employees;
- Mandating adherence to Homlex’s updated Code of Conduct and related policies, which address bribery, workplace behaviour, and equality and diversity;
- Maintaining a whistleblowing policy that protects employees and contractors who report breaches of legislation or Homlex’s Code of Conduct, ensuring such reports are investigated and acted upon confidentially;
- Checking for signs of modern slavery and human trafficking during property visits, addressing any welfare concerns from tenants, contractors, or the public. Concerns are reviewed, investigated, and resolved with necessary actions and support, aligned with our policies and safeguarding
An Engaged Workforce
Homlex continuously reviews its policies and practices to ensure compliance with legislation and alignment with organisational needs and best practices. The Homlex Code of Conduct and related policies apply to all employees, contractors, consultants, and agency staff. These guidelines help our workforce understand their responsibilities and obligations, promoting expected behaviour in the workplace.
